� We arrived in the harbor of New York yesterday, at 12 m., all feeling well. We leave Castle Garden today at 4 p.m., and Jersey City at 7 p.m., for our mountain home.

Tuesday Sept. 12. Rained and blowed very hard last night, causing the vessel to rock very much, causing some to be sick and tumbling things about very much. When day came, we were in sight of land and got up where the doctor came on board and examined the people to see if there was any diseases among them. We got into the dock about - - -, where we went through the hands of the customhouse officers, and got to Castle Gardens about 7 p.m.

Met with Bro. Hart in the dock. I seen, from the papers, that the storm was the severest in some parts know[n] since 1830.

Wednesday Sept. 13th 1882, Had to stay at Castle Gardens until 4 p.m.; waiting for a special train of the New York, Lake Erie and Western to get ready to receive us and our luggage. Got on train at Jersey City and started 7:25 p.m.
