July 8, it was blowing and raining again causing much sickness. At 4:30 p.m. we could see land. It was a joy to see the land of Joseph. The closer we came the more beautiful it was. There was forest clear down to the sea. It had only been ten days since we left England.

On July 9 a baby died in the harbor of New York. Otherwise nearly all are well. A man and woman who were ninety stayed well the whole trip. They opened all our boxes. We tied them together again and loaded them on a small boat which took us to Caster Street and then to the station where we were to take the train at 7:30 a.m.

We were three weeks crossing the Atlantic Ocean. We landed at Castle Gardens, New York City, where the customs Office was, and where we all exchanged our English money for American money. We were there at least one night and one day or more, while the Customs officials went through out luggage. We then took the train for Paris, Bear Lake County, Idaho. We were riding on the train for two weeks. �

Dear Brother,--We arrived here safely, in the dock, at 7 p.m. today, all well, with exception of two children in one Swedish family, who are quite sick. �

Elder William C. Staines met us at the landing, and arrangements are being made for us to leave for the west tomorrow, at 4 p.m. We are all feeling well though anxious to be moving towards home. The brethren wish to be kindly remembered to all in the office.
