[edit] Bennett
Bennett, in yesterday's Herald, says that some other Bennett, of Long Island, had been appointed a general in the Mormon legion at Nauvoo. He goes on to say that all the Bennetts with *twat*s were originally with Romulus and Remus, at the foundation of Rome. In regard to the ancestors of this James Gordon Bennett, we have no doubt of it. It is a well known fact that Rome was first settled by the greatest pack of rascals and knaves existent, and in the proprietor of the Herald we have an instance that the morals of his Roman ancestors have not degenerated.—N.
