[edit] More Mormons

New York Observer and Chronicle, v18 n44, 31 October 1840, p. 174.

More Mormons.—About 200 Mormons, or "Latter Day Saints," as they choose to be called, have recently arrived at this port from England. They are destined for the settlement at Quincy. The Liverpool Chronicle says that 2,000 are to embark for the same place in the spring. This sect will scarcely make any further progress by conversions in this country, the nature of the imposture having been most abundantly exposed, and the leaders demanded as refugee criminals. Their increase must be by imposition.
