[edit] Mormon Church Broadcast

One of the distinctive weekly broadcasts is by the Mormon Tabernacle organ and choir in Salt La Lake City, on the air each Monday evening from 6 to 6:30. Many persons have wondered as to the reason for these broadcasts, which are remarkably find and inspiring. The probable answer is that the Mormon Church desires to be better understood by the people of the country. It wishes to be known and recognized as a Christian communion.

Anyone hearing the great organ or the wonderful choir can hardly fail to acknowledge a feeling of kinship with these people of the Far West, whoo for sos long a time have been kept aloof denominationally.

any of us can remember what a furore was caused in this region some years ago when Mormon missionaries were reported working among the people. They were foredoomed to failure. There were rumors that they sought recruits for Salt Lake City itself. Public sentiment would not concede them a hearing, whatever their mission.

Mormonism from the outset was under a cloud because of the practice of polygamy. This was ended by law a great many years ago. Salt Lake City is a typically American town to-day. Its people are no different from residents of any other city.
