Loveliest Missionary Tract Ever Published
Described by Ardis E. Parshall in The Loveliest Missionary Tract Ever Published (Keepapitchinin, 28 December 2008), "O My Father" was an LDS missionary tract published in 1909 by Eastern States Mission President Ben E. Rich along with Northern States Mission President German E. Ellsworth (HQ: Chicago). It consisted of the text of Eliza R. Snow's hymn "O My Father" illustrated by LDS artist John Hafen. The tract also included music for the hymn, as performed by Robert C. Easton, a former Mormon Tabernacle Choir tenor who had introduced this musical setting for the hymn at the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple in 1893. Easton had since moved to New York City.
The tract was expensive to produce, so the missions sold copies, except for a few which were given to civic and social leaders.
