The testimony of an eyewitness to the social degredation of the Mormon community in Utah is forcibly presented in the graphic descriptions of this volume. Many of his statements have the appearance of intrinsic improbability, but they are so amply sustained by unimpeachable evidence from other quarters, that they must be placed in the category of "truth stranger than fiction."
