- Joseph F. Smith was willing to buy copies of anti-Mormon books from New York in 1915, but with one condition: "Purchase any anti-Mormon works from second hand book stores, where they may be got cheap." -- Ardis on Facebook
- Here's a list of the anti-Mormon books that JFS bought in 1915:
- Female Life among the Mormons (Ward)
- Expose of Polygamy in Utah (Mrs. Stenhouse)
- The Mormon Problem (Lyford)
- Utah and the Mormons (Ferris)
- Lives of female Mormons (Evans)
- The Mormon Prophet (Waite)
- Life in Utah (Beadle)
- Tell It All (Stenhouse)
- Exploration and Survey (Stansbury) -- I wouldn't call this one anti
- Old and New (?)
- Mormonism (Hyde)
- The Conversation of Mormonism (Townshend)
- And what did he pay for this collection, from the used book dealer? A grand total of $8.70. -- Ardis on Facebook

- My sources are all secret. Except for the ones I make up. Oh, okay. I read some letters this morning from Walter P. Monson in New York, who bought the books at JFS's request. - Ardis
