The Mormons

From all acounts, there can be but little doubt that the Mormons have been unfairly dealt with in Missouri. According to the pre-emption laws, the Mormons have as good right to squat on government lands as any other people, and this we believe is the extent of their offending. Other sects, however, who coveted all the lands, attempted to drive them out by a war of extermination, and the Locofoco Governor gave orders of a similar harsh import. By the following, it will be seen that the war is ended, and that P. P. Pratt, who preached here last spring, is among the prisoners.
