Mormonism

This superstition has found many converts in our vicinity. Large numbers have been baptized in the Mormon faith and considerable sums of money have been obtained from them. Within a few days several mechanics, men of reputable character, belonging to this city, have taken their families amounting altogether to twenty or thirty individuals on the rout to Nauvoo, having previously disposed of their property here. — [Salem Gazette
