Richard W. Young, grandson of Brigham Young
- 1878 appointed to West Point
- 1882-3? Fifth Artillery, stationed at Governor's Island, New York
- 1882-3? Studied law at Columbia University, while in military.
- 1886 -- transferred to Ft. Douglas, Utah, following his graduation.
