Apology

Through ignorance of the circumstances we published last week a piece of poetry reflecting upon a young lady: we regret that we have been the innocent means of wounding the feelings of any. We thought the name was fictitious, for the purpose of rhyme, and were very sorry, when we were informed of our mistake. We did not think that among our correspondents there was one so thoughtless, as to trifle with the feelings of those whom they should cherish; In fact, we gave our correspondent credit for more gallantry than he has displayed in this act.
