  • 22 September 1832 -- Revelation that Bishop Whitney should go to New York City to preach gospel

  • 1/1/1833 to 8/31/1833 -- Chandler receives and examines 11 mummies from Egypt & discovers Book of Abraham papyrus

1837

  • 6/20/1837 -- Missionaries bound for England delayed in NYC before traveling. They finally leave on the Ship Garrick on 1 July, arriving in Liverpool on 20 July 1837.
  • 5 August 1837 -- Parley P. Pratt arrives in New York City to preside over the Eastern States Mission. By October 3 he had baptized four. In addition to working in New York, he visits Providence, Boston and Holliston, Massachusetts. A February 6th, 1838 report indicates he had success in Ossining.
