1846-03-27-New York Commercial Advertiser-Another Elopement with a Mormon
From New York City LDS History
- New York Commercial Advertiser, v. XLIX, 27 March 1846, p. 2.
ANOTHER ELOPEMENT WITH A MORMON.
The Cabotville Telegraph gives an account of the elopement of a married woman of that village, with a Mormon Elder or priest. It is similar in its circumstances to the elopement of Mrs. King, of Hartford, with two of "these latter day saints," who it would seem have been prowling about in this region, "seeking whom they might devour." The name of the woman who was enticed away from Cabotville is Mrs. Brockway, the wife of a respectable mechanic. She has gone off with a 'saint' by the name of Shurtliff, who, it appears, has been paying sundry improper attentions to her for some time.
