FEMALE LIFE AMONG THE MORMONS. 12mo., pp. 449, J. C. Derby.

The facts related in this volume purport to be taken from the actual experiences of the writer. She claims to have been the wife of a Mormon elder, and as such to have enjoyed ample opportunity for becoming acquainted with the domestic life of the Latter-Day Saints. her statements are made in the form of an autobiography, and, merely as a romantic narrative, possess no little interest. Whether they are to be construed to the letter as veritable occurrences, may well be doubted by the discreet reader; but that they have sufficient foundation in fact to be taken as illustrations of Mormon manners, is made probably by a variety of collateral evidences. The author has composed her volume evidently under the influence of strong disgust with her quondam co-religionists, and we presume few persons will read it without an access of the same sentiment.
