Elements of Mormonism. August 21, 1855, Wednesday Page 4, 623 words

First Paragraph: We have seen it stated in the English papers that the greater part of the disciples of JOE SMITH, who are brought from that country to Salt Lake, have been members of the Established Church. But, whether that be true or not, it is undeniable that they have come from under the jurisdiction of the Bishops of the English Church.

A report culled from English newspapers, including the Millennial Star, explores the character of the Mormon immigrants, claiming that they come from the most immoral portion of English society. The report gives numbers of immigrants for the period from November 27, 1854 to April 26, 1855. The report gives numbers of immigrants by port, whether or not they used the Perpetual Immigration Fund and by country of origin.
