HORACE GREELEY on MORMONISM.——
- To the Editor of The Tribune: In Mr. Greeley's Washington Letter to The Tribune of Wednesday last, I read with great pleasure his brief but interesting account of the abominations of Mormonism, as narrated to hm by an eyewitness. No, one, Sir, not even Mr. Greeley himself, detests spiritual wifery and its cognate, iniquities, as practiced in Utah by Brigham Young and his villainous followers, more than I do. I regret to be compelled to state, however, that the pleasure derived from the perusal of Mr. Greeley's letter was not unalloyed; for it forcibly reminded me of a public duty that I had long neglected. I allude to my having omitted for some time to advertise in The Tribune:

- Why I should have been so culpably remiss in my duty to the public I cannot really say, except it is that I sell the above work already as fast as I can print it. It is the joint production of a man and his wife who passed through the seven degrees of Mormonism. It would seem from their statements that they have both the man and the woman, been married to any quantity of wives and husbands, until, having become sated, they reinterchanged first loves, and escaped from their fellow-polygamists. It is a little singular, however, that they still cling with tenacity to what they term the pure tenets of the faith. They reject spiritual-wifery only. This work also conflicts somewhat with the received opinion that the privilege of changing mates among the Mormons is exercised exclusively by the males. Respectfully,
