The New-Jersey Mormons. September 10, 1856, Wednesday Page 6, 337 words

FIRST PARAGRAPH: A correspondent of the Mount Holly Mirror, writing from Hornerstown, Ocean County, gives some information in relation to the Mormons in that county, in addition to that recently given by our own correspondent at Tom's River. He says that meetings are hold there every week in a Mormon Church, and usually attended by about 50 persons-some 20 or 30 having emigrated a few months since to Salt Lake City.

The report indicates that they were led by an Elder Curtis, who had recently immigrated to Utah, and was now being led by an English immigrant, Richard Traceder. Traceder had scheduled a camp meeting for about Thursday, September 12th. The correspondent also indicated that a number of "respectable and wealthy farmers of this neighborhood" had joined the congregation, but that few new converts, immigration to Utah and "the constant falling from grace" had led to the gradual dwindling of the congregation.
