[Summary: In Great Salt Lake City, a letter announces that "St. J. M. Grant" is dead as of 1 Dec 1856. Being high up in the Mormon Church, he must have left at least seventy wives behind him. The people of the city believe that he is now exalted and have canonized him, perhaps even praying to him. Also, news has just arrived of the miserable condition of an arriving handcart company�someone should warn these emigrants when they are still in New York City.]
