Colonel Kane on Governor Cumming

New York Evening Post, March 22, 1859

Colonel Kane on Governor Cumming.—Colonel Thomas L. Kane, brother of the **illegible**, lectured on the _ing. The lecture consisted principally of a defense of the character of Alfred Cumming, Governor of Utah, and a highly-wrought biography of that gentleman, whom the lecturer believed to be, without qualification, the bravest patriot America had ever produced. He apologized for not relating the events of the Mormon Insurrection by stating that, as an officer of government, he ws not at liberty to disclose certain facts.
