Monday 7, we passed Sandy Hook about 6 a.m., at New York about 8. Got off to Castle Garden middle of [p.554] afternoon. Luggage examined by customs officers on shipboard.

Sunday the 6th. The pilot came on board at 8 o'clock a.m. All fine, morning headwinds. That day saw several steamers that day. Attended meetings in the cabin in the morning. Held a meeting in the steerage in the afternoon. Three of the officers present at the meeting. Brother George W. Groo addressed the Saints.

Monday the 7. Arrived at Sandy Hook at half past 5 a.m. All at half past six came to Salton Islands on the left hand and Honey Islands on the right hand. Stayed there and was examined by the doctor. Left there at 8 o'clock and arrived at New York at 9 o'clock. We was treated very kind all of the way. Brother Fost [Foster] and wife came back with us they had been to England for Sister Fost [Foster] health. The government officers came on board and examined our baggage and then we landed and went to the Castle Garden. Stayed there all night with the Saints.

Tuesday the 8th. Crossed the Hudson River to New Jersey and started on the railroad thence to Pittsburgh arrived there at 9 o'clock p.m. Stayed there all night.
