20. Very fine. Looking out for [-] first land. Made our [- - -] anchor 12 o'clock in New York River, 3,315 miles from London. [p. 13b]

21. Got underway and steamed up the river and left the ship for Castle Gardens and stayed there during the night.

22. Preparing for the cars.

23. Traveling throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

S. S. Nevada, New York Harbor, May 21, 1874.President Joseph F. Smith.

Dear Brother,--After a long and tedious voyage, we arrived at this port today, at 10 a.m., in good health and spirits, though many have suffered severely with seasickness, owing to high winds and rough seas. �

We expect to leave here tomorrow, at 3 p.m., by train, for the far west. All well.

Ever praying for you and all those associated with you, and the cause in [p.379] which we are all engaged, we are,
