New York Tribune, 17 September 1880, p. 5

Mormon Immigrants at Castle Garden

The steamship Nevada brought to this port 338 Mormon immigrants, and yesterday they were lodged at Castle Garden. Of the number 147 are Scandinavians, 134 English and Scotch, 40 Swiss and 17 Americans. The latter are the agents who have been abroad soliciting immigration to Utah. John Adam Krauth, one of the American Mormons, died on the passage and was buried at sea, September 11. There are several children among the immigrants.
