Callister, D.P., [Letter], Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star 49:20 (April 28, 1887) p. 314.

New York, April 28, 1887.

Dear George Teasdale:

Dear Brother-

According to promise we drop you a line giving a synopsis of our journey. …

… We were all able to pass quarantine on the 27th, at 6:30 p.m. After which the customs officers came on board and took statements as to our having any dutiable goods, our destination, etc. Landed at Guion Dock at 7:30 p.m.

We were met by Brother James E. Hart, and others at 9 p.m.; and on the morning of the 28th our company's luggage was examined by the officers and, at 12 noon, we left for Castle Garden, where all passed.

At 3:30 p.m., we started per S. S. "Roanoke," Old Dominion Line, for Norfolk, and have thus far been kindly treated by all.

From your brethren and co-laborers in the gospel,

D.P. Callister,

J.D. Smith,

Martin Christiansen.
