Latter Day Saints Church Heads To Speak Here Tomorrow Morning

Heber J. Grant, president and highest official of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called “Mormon” Church), Melvin J. Ballard, one of its Twelve Apostles, and James H. Mojle, president of the Eastern States Mission, all of Salt Lake City, Utah, are in the East conducting meetings and looking after the interests of the church. To-morrow at 10 a. m. they will speak in the chapel at No. 273 Gates avenue, this borough, at 2:30 p. m. in Essex Council, Jr. O. U. A. M. Hall, Newark, N. J., and at 7 p. m. in Engineering Societies Building, No. 20 West Thirty-ninth street, Manhattan.

President Grant, who has traveled extensively throughout the United States and is well known in the East, has presided over the church for the past ten years. Elder Ballard, with one exception the youngest apostle of the church is one of its most inspirational and cogent speakers. He has also traveled extensively; was for a number of years president of the Northwestern States Mission. Subsequently be established a mission of the church in South America, which completed the placing of missionaries in every civilized country on the globe. Elder James H. Moyle, president of the Eastern States Mission, for many years a prominent lawyer of Salt Lake City, is perhaps better known for his Governmental connection, having been president of the Utah State Industrial School, a member of the Utah State Legislature, nominee for both Governor of the State of Utah and to the United States Senate, from 1917 to 1921, Assistant Secretary of the United States Treasury.

These men, in keeping with the ideals of the Latter Day Saints, although they have had much to do in a secular way, are now spending their entire time in the service of the church without remuneration.

Twenty-five “Mormon Missionaries" representatives of the church coming from Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming will attend these services; and will also hold a special missionary conference Monday, March 10, at 10 a. m., in the Brooklyn chapel, No. 273 Gates avenue.
