  • "In 1912 the Eastern States mission president reported to Joseph F. Smith on the latest doings of an excommunicant who had many times publicly claimed to be a wife of Joseph F. Smith. In 1912 she claimed that the mission president had received a revelation "transferring" her from JFS to that MP.

Sez the MP to JFS: "I sincerely trust this will not cause you any uneasiness or make you fear that you are liable to lose all your family."" -- Ardis on Facebook

  • Wow. I have to ask about this one. Who was this lady??!! - Kent
  • Mrs. Louis Brittain (sometimes spelled Brittian and I'm not really sure which is right; there's a middle initial, too, that escapes me -- G., maybe?). You'll find her in the NYTimes in May 1912, and probably several times in earlier years. -- Ardis
