The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a long and varied history in New York City. From the restoration of the Gospel, New York City has represented a variety of things to the Mormon people as they sought refuge and exaltation. The city has been a resource for knowledge, goods, services and finance for church members as well as for the Church. It has been a staging and transition point for members traveling to and from various parts of the world. And it has become a home to thousands of members and a 'Stake of Zion' in the 'Latter-days.' This site represents the accumulated research and public documentation I have assembled, both during my time with the New York New York Stake LDS History Committee and since then. I hope to make this research and source documents more available through this website. In addition to the research, I am looking for contributions from Mormons who have lived in the New York City area, from their descendants or from other researchers who have relevant information.
