- Ordained an elder on May 18, 1842 while living in Norwalk, Connecticut.
- Replaced Lucian R. Foster as presiding elder in New York in August 1843.
- Participated in conference held at Military Hall, April 3rd and 4th, 1844.
- Excommunicated October 26, 1844, apparently because he aligned himself with Sidney Rigdon.
- Joined James J. Strang by the fall of 1849.
