To Spread Mormonism

The third article in a three-part Eagle series on Mormonism that started with All About Mormons and continued with What Mormons Believe. The articles all drew on a collection of books donated to the Long Island Historical Society (now the Brooklyn Historical Society) by Colonel Lewis C. Hopkins.

This article discussed the most recent group of Elders teaching in Brooklyn, led by Elder Samuel W. Richards (President of the Eastern States Mission, and including Arthur F. Barnes, Charles A. Glazier, and Orson Hudson. All four missionaries are pictured in the article.

The article indicates that mission headquarters was then at 48 Sands Street in Brooklyn.

The article also covers the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and the unique items in the LDS hymnal. It also discusses the 1832 "prophecy on war" (D&C ?) and Parley P. Pratt's autobiography.
